TIMOR-LESTE SENDS 100+ VOLUNTEERS TO AID THE PHILIPPINES AFTER TYPHOON TINO

The Philippines expressed gratitude to Timor-Leste after it pledged to send 120 engineers and firefighters to help clean and rehabilitate areas devastated by Typhoon Tino.

The assistance comes amid widespread international support following the typhoon, which has killed at least 188 people, mostly in Cebu.

The Department of Foreign Affairs welcomed Timor-Leste’s contribution as one of the first acts by the newest ASEAN member since joining the bloc on October 26.

DFA spokesperson Angelica Escalona noted that the Philippines did not request international humanitarian aid, but appreciates the solidarity.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared a state of national calamity to address the massive destruction caused by the typhoon.
