STATE OF CALAMITY DECLARED IN QUEZON CITY, MANILA TO UNLOCK EMERGENCY FUNDS

Quezon City and Manila have declared a state of calamity due to intense monsoon rains and widespread flooding, enabling both cities to tap emergency funds for relief and recovery.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said the quick response funds will support cleanup operations, medical aid, and assistance for over 10,300 displaced families, with Barangay Tatalon hosting the highest number of evacuees.

In Manila, Mayor Isko Moreno ordered an emergency city council session to formalize the declaration.

Local officials in both cities, including Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, have visited evacuation centers to assess residents’ needs.

Disaster response teams remain on high alert to provide continuous support amid ongoing weather threats.
