Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has approved the rehabilitation of the Dimasalang Bridge after initially halting the project due to the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) lack of permits and clearances.
The project contractor has since complied by paying P504,000 in city taxes. With the southbound lane set to close, Moreno ordered the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau to implement a traffic management plan to ease congestion.
The rehabilitation will include retrofitting of piers and abutments, replacing concrete girders with steel, and full redecking of the slab.
Repair works are scheduled to begin this month, with the northbound lane accommodating two-way traffic during construction.
