Vice President Sara Duterte returned to The Hague following the ICC Appeals Chamber’s denial of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s request for interim release while facing trial for crimes against humanity over the drug war.
Speaking to the Filipino community, she shared updates on her father’s health, saying he is under medical supervision and receiving support from family and well-wishers.
Duterte criticized the DTI’s claim that P500 is enough for a Christmas meal, noting her family provides P2,100 worth of food for Noche Buena.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Solicitor General has resumed representing the government in Supreme Court petitions related to Duterte’s arrest and transfer to the ICC, reversing an earlier recusal.
The legal challenges include petitions from Duterte and his family seeking to halt his detention abroad, amid ongoing proceedings before both the ICC and the Philippine Supreme Court.
