President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued Executive Order 101 directing the full implementation of the Sagip Saka Act, which supports farmers and fisherfolk to improve productivity and income.
The EO mandates all national government agencies, GOCCs, SUCs, and LGUs to align their programs and projects with the Act’s objectives and directly purchase agricultural products from accredited cooperatives.
Government procurement from farmers and fisherfolk is exempted from standard bidding rules to promote local produce.
EO 101 also encourages collaboration among agencies, LGUs, the private sector, and civil society to ensure sustainable agricultural growth and market access.
The Department of Agriculture will establish Sagip Saka desks, while the Farmers and Fisherfolk Enterprise Development Council will oversee implementation and report progress to the President.
