REP. TIANGCO QUITS HOUSE MAJORITY OVER BUDGET SECRECY

Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco has left the House majority bloc and declared himself an independent, citing the lack of transparency in the 2025 national budget deliberations.

In a statement, Tiangco said he could no longer support the current House leadership due to questionable processes in the budget’s passage.

The veteran lawmaker, who also served as campaign manager for the Marcos administration’s Senate slate, called for a thorough review of budget procedures.

He emphasized the need to eliminate budget insertions and ensure full transparency from start to finish.

Tiangco’s move signals growing internal dissent over governance practices in Congress.
