REMULLA SEEKS TO STOP VIOLENT HAZING IN FRATERNITY RECRUITMENT

DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla is calling for an end to the culture of violence in fraternity recruitment following the death of a 19-year-old Tau Gamma Phi neophyte in Cavite.

The victim, who was brought to General Trias Medical Hospital on March 1, died from blunt force trauma sustained during initiation rites.

At least 17 suspects, aged 18 to 19, have been identified for violating the Anti-Hazing Law, and Remulla urged them to surrender voluntarily.

He also called on the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity to cooperate fully in locating and turning over members involved in the incident, noting that their manifesto against violence does not shield leaders from accountability.

This marks the second hazing-related death in Cavite in four years, prompting authorities to push for stricter enforcement and accountability.
