The Commission on Elections (Comelec) confirmed that former Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama remains on the 2025 election ballot, while former Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes was disqualified.
Cortes’ candidacy was invalidated due to ongoing legal issues, including suspension and dismissal from office for misconduct.
Despite facing similar accusations, Rama’s disqualification was overturned by the Supreme Court, allowing his candidacy to proceed.
Cortes, who filed his candidacy before his dismissal, was removed from the ballot due to material misrepresentation.
Rama, however, remains eligible for the upcoming elections.
