President Marcos joined volunteers in serving meals at the Walang Gutom Kitchen in Pasay City on September 18, a public-private food bank collaboration aimed at helping Filipinos experiencing hunger.
He served meals alongside DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and interacted with beneficiaries, mostly street dwellers, and even shared a meal with them.
Marcos received a birthday cake for his 68th birthday from the DSWD, with beneficiaries and volunteers singing to him during the event.
The President expressed his desire for the DSWD to open more food bank-soup kitchens nationwide to fight hunger and malnutrition.
Since its launch in December 2024, the Walang Gutom Kitchen has served over 152,000 meals and helped more than 108,000 individuals.
