President Marcos congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his recent electoral victory, expressing optimism for strengthened ties between the Philippines and India.
In an X post, Marcos praised India as a sincere friend over the past decade and anticipated further enhancing their bilateral and regional partnership.
Modi secured a third term with his National Democratic Alliance winning 294 of 543 seats in the lower house, though the victory was narrow, requiring coalition support.
Marcos had previously been invited by Modi to visit India as both nations prepare to celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
The Philippines and India established diplomatic ties on November 26, 1949, with Marcos lauding India’s support for peace and stability in the South China Sea during the 2023 ASEAN-India Summit.
