President Marcos emphasized the importance of government support for Filipino athletes during the reopening of the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City.
He said sports build character and that athletes should not rely solely on informal support from parents, schools, and coaches.
Marcos highlighted the need for proper training, nutrition, rest, and medical care to help athletes perform well in local and international competitions.
He also stressed bringing sports back to schools to teach young people valuable life lessons through participation and competition.
The renovated PhilSports Complex now features athlete dormitories, a dining hall, a sports museum, and upgraded training facilities.
