PPCRV: 2026 MUST BE FINAL POSTPONEMENT OF BARANGAY, SK ELECTIONS

The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has urged that the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) to November 2026 be the last delay.

PPCRV chair Evelyn Singson warned that repeated deferments weaken accountability and erode public trust, stressing that the sanctity of democracy rests on the certainty of regular elections.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently signed Republic Act 12232, moving the polls from December 2025 to November 2026, with future BSKE to be held every four years.

While supporting the focus on preparing for the first-ever Bangsamoro parliamentary elections in October 2025, Singson emphasized that barangay polls must remain fixed to safeguard democratic principles.

She said elected officials should only serve within their rightful mandate and be judged regularly at the ballot box.
