The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that over 48,000 people were apprehended in Metro Manila during a three-day “Safer Cities” drive from April 6 to 8.
The Southern Police District recorded the highest number of violators at 9,503, while other districts also contributed thousands of apprehensions.
Common offenses included public drinking and smoking, minors roaming past curfew, going shirtless, excessive noise, and general disturbances.
Of those apprehended, 7,389 were fined, 403 face formal charges, and 15,584 were released with warnings.
The program, led by the PNP and the Department of the Interior and Local Government, seeks to improve public safety and enforce curfews for those under 18.
