Pope Leo XIV has appointed Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, San Pablo Bishop Marcelino Maralit, and Filipino Archbishop Ryan Jimenez of Agaña, Guam, to the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication.
The Dicastery oversees Vatican media, press relations, and digital communications.
Tagle, already pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, joins this as his eighth dicastery membership, while Maralit also heads the Office of Social Communications of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences.
The appointments aim to strengthen the Vatican’s global communications and media operations.
Several other international church leaders were also named members of the Dicastery alongside the Filipino prelates.
