PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil has ordered that corrupt police officers not only face imprisonment but also have their ill-gotten wealth confiscated.
This directive follows the dismissal of 10 CIDG officers who were accused of extorting P18 million during a raid in Tondo, Manila, in February.
Marbil emphasized the PNP’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, stating that corrupt officers’ assets will be thoroughly investigated with the help of the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
He warned that officers involved in corruption would lose everything gained through illegal activities.
In addition to the 10 CIDG operatives, other officers are under investigation for similar offenses, including theft and allowing a detainee to visit her family during the Holy Week.
