Malacañang said the Philippine economic team will continue engaging with the United States following its recent 15-percent increase in import duties.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro quoted the team emphasizing the importance of maintaining stable trade and investment relations with the US as a major trading partner.
The team said it will closely monitor developments and assess potential impacts on Philippine exports.
Over the weekend, US President Donald Trump raised tariffs on all trade partners, including the Philippines, by five percentage points from the initial 10 percent.
Despite the hike, Finance Secretary Frederick Go said the Philippines remains in a “good spot” as some exports continue to enjoy tariff exemptions.
