PHILIPPINES AND HUNGARY ENHANCE COOPERATION FOR OFW WELFARE

The Philippines and Hungary reaffirmed their strong bilateral relations during OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan’s visit to Budapest.

Caunan met with Hungarian State Secretary Illés Boglárka to discuss migrant worker support and cooperation, highlighting the Central European Regional Center in Budapest, which has been serving OFWs since 2024.

Caunan also met with Philippine Ambassador Maria Elena Algabre to strengthen coordination between OWWA, the DMW, and the DFA for better OFW welfare programs.

Nearly 200 OFWs attended an OWWA wellness and membership caravan in Budapest, where 155 eCards were distributed and 113 memberships renewed.

The event aimed to make OWWA services more accessible to Filipinos abroad without needing to return to the Philippines.
