The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) clarified that the United States has no plans to withdraw military assets from the country despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
AFP spokesperson Rear Adm. Roy Vincent Trinidad said the redeployment of certain US air defense systems from South Korea to the Middle East does not affect assets stationed in the Philippines.
Key US systems in the country, including Tomahawk-capable missile batteries, NMESIS, and HIMARS, continue to operate on a rotational basis.
Trinidad highlighted that EDCA sites in the Philippines remain for mutual defense and humanitarian purposes, not as staging areas for foreign conflicts.
He also noted that US-Philippine security cooperation is strengthening, supported by recent approvals under the Philippine Enhanced Resilience Act and over 500 joint military activities planned for 2026.
