Gilas Pilipinas women suffered a heavy 115-66 defeat against World No. 3 France in the Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament at Astroballe in Lyon.
France dominated all four quarters, opening a decisive 26-5 run in the second quarter that put the game out of reach early.
Dominique Malonga led the French team with 21 points and nine rebounds, supported by Alexia Cherry (16) and Migna Toure (14), while Janelle Salaun, Valeriane Ayayi, and Marine Johannes also scored in double digits.
Sumayah Sugapong led the Filipinas with 13 points, with Afril Bernardino adding 12 points and six rebounds before fouling out.
The Philippines will face World No. 12 Germany in their next match early Friday morning (Manila time).
