Philippine Army reservist Pfc. Rex Froilan Gil finished 11th out of 76 participants in the Military International Drone Racing Tournament in Sydney, Australia.
His performance showcases the growing skills of the Army’s unmanned aerial systems operators in high-speed drone piloting and tactical maneuvers.
The five-member PA team competed as part of the Australian Army’s 125th founding anniversary celebrations.
Gil’s result follows the Army drone team’s fifth-place finish in the 2025 tournament in the United Kingdom.
The achievement reflects the PA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the capabilities of its regular and reserve units in modern drone operations.
