More than 4,000 Philippine Army soldiers and reservists are on standby to assist those affected by heavy rains and flooding caused by Tropical Depression Dante and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
Since July 21, Army rescue teams have saved 76 people trapped in floodwaters in Metro Manila areas like Quezon City and Marikina.
The military deployed specialized search and rescue teams, trucks, and rubber boats to conduct operations, while reservists also helped repack and distribute relief goods in Pampanga and Palawan.
Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala emphasized the military’s commitment to working closely with local governments and volunteers to ensure timely rescue and relief efforts.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reports that over 1.4 million Filipinos have been affected by recent weather disturbances.
