PH AND JAPAN NAVIES STRENGTHEN OPERATIONAL INTEROPERABILITY

The Philippine Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force recently strengthened their operational coordination during a two-day visit by senior PN officials to Japan.

Rear Adm. Joe Anthony C. Orbe led the Philippine delegation, meeting with Japanese counterparts in Yokosuka and aboard the multi-role frigate JS Kumano to discuss joint exercises and humanitarian operations.

The visit highlighted the growing frequency of joint activities and the importance of aligning training and capabilities for future operations.

Orbe also held a courtesy call with JMSDF Chief of Staff Admiral Akira Saito in Tokyo, emphasizing the expanding naval partnership.

The visit supports the implementation of the 2023 Reciprocal Access Agreement, enhancing defense collaboration, logistics, personnel exchanges, and regional security cooperation amid evolving challenges in the Indo-Pacific.
