Malacañang announced it will allow scrutiny of the Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) of Executive branch officials, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., if deemed necessary by the Office of the Ombudsman.
PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro expressed full support for Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla’s push for greater transparency and accountability in government.
Remulla intends to remove previous restrictions on SALN access imposed by former Ombudsman Jesus Martires, which required a court order or consent for review.
The move aligns with RA 6713, mandating public officials to file SALNs annually to prevent corruption.
Castro highlighted that the Palace supports lawful actions that aid in the fight against corruption, including lifestyle checks on officials involved in infrastructure anomalies.
