OMBUDSMAN EYES FILING OF FLOOD CONTROL CASES VS. SENATORS NEXT WEEK

The Office of the Ombudsman said cases against senators linked to the flood control scandal may be filed as early as next week, with Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla set to release a list of high-profile targets under various stages of investigation.

Officials, including Sens. Francis Escudero, Mark Villar, Jinggoy Estrada, Joel Villanueva, and former senators Nancy Binay, Grace Poe, and Bong Revilla, are among those facing potential charges ranging from plunder to bribery and graft.

Some cases may be elevated to the Sandiganbayan this week, while others are already in advanced stages of review, including Revilla’s case, which is close to resolution.

The Ombudsman stressed that the ongoing crackdown on corruption is a shared national responsibility, and urged public participation through crowdsourced reporting.

Remulla also announced upcoming reforms focused on digitalization to strengthen evidence handling and investigative processes.
