Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. ordered police to strengthen coordination with coastal communities after over P22 million worth of shabu was turned in by a fisherman in Patnanungan, Quezon.
He emphasized that seaside residents are crucial partners in national security and that their cooperation can help prevent narcotics from reaching shore.
Nartatez praised police-community relations as an effective tool against illegal activities and urged local commanders to sustain these partnerships.
Authorities are investigating the origin of the drugs, which may have been abandoned at sea by syndicates due to increased maritime patrols.
He reminded the public to stay safe by reporting suspicious packages without touching them, highlighting that the fight against illegal drugs extends beyond land to the country’s coastlines.
