Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay praised the national government for providing a P5,000 fuel subsidy to tricycle drivers to ease the burden of rising fuel prices amid the Middle East conflict.
She thanked President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for responding promptly to the needs of public transport drivers.
The subsidy rollout was coordinated with Metro Manila mayors, prioritizing tricycle drivers, with jeepney operators to follow.
Each qualified driver will receive P5,000, with distribution led by DSWD and DOTr in coordination with local government units starting next week.
Makati has over 2,500 registered tricycle drivers, and the city recently held barangay-based registration and renewal services to facilitate the process.
