President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday thanked Filipinos for participating in the midterm elections and urged newly elected officials to unite in addressing the country’s pressing challenges.
In a statement, Marcos praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the polls, describing it as a “celebration of continuity” and a renewed call to action.
He encouraged leaders of all political affiliations to work together on issues like inflation, unemployment, and corruption.
Marcos also acknowledged the efforts of candidates who did not win, stating that public service goes beyond election outcomes.
The Commission on Elections has begun canvassing national results, with official proclamations expected by the weekend.
