President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has approved several measures aimed at strengthening the country’s space science and technology capabilities, including satellite development, telecommunications infrastructure, and space safety programs.
During the ninth meeting of the Philippine Space Council, officials declared the MULA Constellation Program a national priority, with its first satellite targeted for launch in 2027 to support disaster management, agriculture, and environmental monitoring.
The council also approved the creation of a Philippine Sovereign Geostationary Telecommunications Satellite Program to improve connectivity in remote areas and enhance government communications.
To address growing space activity, the council adopted a national Orbital Debris Response Protocol and harmonized satellite data requirements among government agencies to improve planning and resource utilization.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Space Agency reported ongoing preparations for a sounding rocket test launch in Lal-lo between late 2026 and early 2027 as part of efforts to develop indigenous space launch capabilities.
