Authorities seized frozen meat products worth P23.27 million imported from China during an inspection at the Port of Manila.

The shipment, declared as processed seafood, was found to contain various frozen meat products, including chicken and duck.

The Bureau of Customs is coordinating with the Bureau of Animal Industry to determine if the products are safe for consumption and may donate them to calamity victims if cleared.

Warrants of seizure and detention have been issued for possible customs and food safety violations.

The consignee is also under investigation for possible large-scale agricultural smuggling and economic sabotage.
