LEGARDA SUPPORTS FOREIGN AFFAIRS PENSION BILL TO HONOR RETIRED DIPLOMATS

Senator Loren Legarda praised retired officers and employees of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for their dedicated service while voting to approve the proposed Foreign Affairs Pension Differential Act.

The bill, which aims to increase retired diplomats’ pensions and other benefits, ensures they receive proper support and live with dignity in retirement.

Under the measure, pension adjustments will occur every five years, with benefits exempt from taxes and legal claims.

Surviving spouses and dependent children will also receive half of the pension benefits upon the retiree’s death.

The bill passed the third reading with 23 affirmative votes and no objections.
