The House of Representatives has suspended Rep. Kiko Barzaga (Cavite, 4th District) for another 60 days due to continued disorderly behavior, following the recommendation of the ethics committee.
During this period, Barzaga is barred from performing official duties and will forfeit two months’ salary and allowances.
The plenary voted 238-10-9 to adopt the suspension after reviewing his conduct and social media posts during his previous suspension, which began on December 1, 2025.
The disciplinary action stemmed from complaints over Barzaga’s accusations that the National Unity Party accepted bribes to support the speakership of Rep. Martin Romualdez and for making offensive remarks about public officials.
Ethics Committee Chair Rep. JC Abalos warned that repeated misconduct could lead to harsher penalties, including possible expulsion, while Barzaga also faces cyberlibel, inciting-to-sedition, and rebellion charges.
