Cavite Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga’s 60-day House suspension, imposed last December over ethics violations, may be extended due to a potential new complaint, Tingog Rep. Jude Acidre said.
Barzaga was initially suspended for allegedly making bribery accusations against National Unity Party (NUP) members and engaging in conduct prejudicial to the House.
Acidre noted that Barzaga’s actions after the first suspension could trigger a separate complaint, possibly leading to further disciplinary or legal action.
NUP leaders, including Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno, have indicated they may file a new complaint, which could even result in Barzaga’s expulsion.
The suspended lawmaker is also facing a cyber libel case from businessman Enrique Razon over similar corruption allegations.
