Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo will be transferred to the Pasig City Jail on September 23, where she will share a cramped cell with 44 other detainees.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has increased security measures for her transfer from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center, ensuring her safety during court hearings.
Currently, the female dormitory at Pasig Jail houses 135 detainees, significantly exceeding its capacity, and Guo’s cell, designed for nine, features basic amenities.
Guo remains in detention due to ongoing human trafficking charges and related contempt orders, despite recently posting bail in a separate graft case.
Senator Risa Hontiveros emphasized the importance of this case for victims of human trafficking and expressed confidence in the legal process, stating, “Guo Hua Ping, you have no escape.”
