Alice Guo, the dismissed mayor of Bamban, is facing increasing legal troubles after a Pasig court ordered her transfer to the city’s jail due to charges of qualified human trafficking.
Judge Annielyn Medes-Cabelis has scheduled Guo’s arraignment for September 27 via videoconference and has also ordered the arrest of her co-accused.
Although Guo remains in the custody of the Philippine National Police, they will comply with the court’s directive after her upcoming arraignment on graft charges in Valenzuela.
The arraignment for those charges has been postponed to September 30, allowing time for the prosecution to respond to a motion filed by Guo’s defense.
Guo’s legal team plans to plead “not guilty” and seeks to post bail, though the court has set the amount significantly higher due to her designation as a high-risk detainee.
