GOVERNMENT WORK, SCHOOL CLASSES SUSPENDED AS TYPHOON HITS

Malacañang has suspended work in government offices and canceled classes in several regions today and tomorrow due to Super Typhoon Uwan.

The typhoon began hitting the northeastern coast yesterday, adding to the country’s recovery from Typhoon Tino, which killed over 220 people.

Work is suspended in Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas.

Classes are also canceled in these areas, as well as Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and the Negros Island Region.

Local governments may implement further suspensions, and low-lying areas in La Union are already under forced evacuation.
