In 2024, the Philippines’ tourism sector experienced significant growth, with international tourist expenditures increasing by 119% from P600 billion in 2019 to P712 billion between January and December 15, 2024.
This surge is attributed to government reforms under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which have revitalized the industry.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco noted that the 2024 figures surpassed those of 2019, indicating a robust recovery from the pandemic’s impact on global travel.
The government’s initiatives have not only boosted tourist spending but also enhanced the overall tourism experience in the country.
