President Marcos has appointed former Philippine National Police chief Benjamin Acorda Jr. as the new executive director of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).
Acorda will replace Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz, Malacañang announced on October 15.
Acorda served as PNP chief from April 2023 to March 2024 and was previously the director of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence.
The PAOCC is responsible for leading anti-crime efforts and targeting criminal groups and their protectors in government.
It has notably led to crackdowns on Philippine offshore gambling operations (POGO), which Marcos banned during his third State of the Nation Address.
