The House Infrastructure Committee has suspended its probe into anomalous flood control projects to allow the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to conduct a full and impartial investigation.
All findings and evidence from the House probe have been handed over to the ICI as a sign of cooperation.
The committee plans to file measures to strengthen infrastructure oversight, including granting the ICI subpoena and contempt powers.
The House probe uncovered negligent certification of projects and allegations of lawmakers involved in kickback schemes.
While the House investigation has paused, the Senate continues its own probe, and the ICI holds closed-door hearings and site inspections.
