First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Education Secretary Sonny Angara launched a nationwide school-based hydroponics project at Las Piñas National High School and Parañaque National High School under the “Agri Tayo, Lab for All” program.
The initiative aims to promote modern vegetable gardening in schools with limited space and fertile soil while using up to 90 percent less water than traditional farming.
The two schools received hydroponics greenhouse facilities to support student learning and community engagement.
The first phase will establish facilities in 200 schools nationwide, with plans to expand to 700 units.
The project will also support school feeding programs, hands-on science lessons, and practical agricultural and livelihood skills among students.
