The Department of Agriculture (DA) announced the shipment of Guimaras mangoes to Europe and Hong Kong as part of efforts to expand the global market reach of one of the Philippines’ premium agricultural products.
A total of 200 kilos sourced from Kokomojo Mango Farm in Sibunag, Guimaras, will be exported, with 50 kilos each sent to the Netherlands and Belgium as promotional “patikim” shipments, and 100 kilos delivered to Hong Kong.
The DA said the European consignments aim to introduce the fruit to potential buyers, while the Hong Kong shipment will be showcased during celebrations of the 127th Philippine Independence Day.
The Bureau of Plant Industry provided technical support, including compliance checks, laboratory testing, and phytosanitary certification to ensure international food safety and plant health standards.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said the initiative is part of broader efforts to open new markets, increase farmer incomes, and strengthen Philippine agricultural exports through science-based quality assurance and certification systems.
