The House of Representatives on Monday resumed deliberations on the proposed ₱7.2-trillion 2027 National Expenditure Program after discussions were suspended last week due to heavy monsoon rains and flooding.
Lawmakers are simultaneously reviewing the spending plans of agencies including PAGCOR, DTI, DOJ, PCSO and DOST as part of a 53-day schedule to approve the General Appropriations Bill by October.
House leaders said the proposed budget will undergo strict scrutiny, with lawmakers calling for detailed reviews of agencies facing public concerns over their programs and performance.
Kabataan Party-list Rep. Renee Co urged the House Appropriations Committee to review the budgets of BCDA, SBMA and nine other executive offices before they reach plenary.
The agencies cited include the MMDA, AMLC, NICA, NSC, PDEA and PEZA, among others, amid issues involving projects, security, environmental concerns and regulatory performance.
