EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR GUO’S COUNTER-AFFIDAVIT SET BY COMELEC

Due to inclement weather that led to the suspension of work in government offices, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has granted dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo an additional day to submit her counter-affidavit on misrepresentation charges.

Comelec Chairman George Garcia emphasized that this extension is final and failure to meet the deadline will result in case resolution without her input. Guo, identified as Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, left the country in July and is currently in Indonesia, having evaded Senate hearings on Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).

Meanwhile, Senator Risa Hontiveros urged authorities to enforce President Marcos’ total ban on POGOs, citing ongoing illegal activities despite official directives.

Hontiveros also highlighted the Senate’s ongoing efforts to address the issue and ensure accountability for those involved.
