He criticized current election laws that allow unchecked pre-campaign spending, limiting fair competition among candidates.
Meanwhile, former Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson withdrew from the 2025 senatorial race due to health concerns, leaving 66 candidates in contention.
The Philippine National Police has also implemented 6,327 checkpoints nationwide as part of the election gun ban.
