The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has invalidated 42 party-list groups for the 2025 midterm elections due to failure to meet accreditation requirements.
According to Resolution 11071, 11 groups were disqualified for not participating in the last two elections, while 31 others failed to secure seats in the second round of seat allocation.
The decision aligns with the Party-List System Act and emphasizes the importance of ensuring that candidates truly represent marginalized communities.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia stated that the commission is committed to careful scrutiny of all accreditation applications.
A total of 177 party-list organizations had participated in the previous elections.
