Akbayan Rep. Chel Diokno urged President Marcos to demonstrate his commitment to fighting corruption by certifying the anti-political dynasty bill (HB 5905) as urgent in the House of Representatives.
The bill seeks to bar relatives of incumbent officials, up to the fourth degree, from holding or running for public office.
Diokno criticized political clans for exploiting government processes, calling for an end to dynastic control.
He also pushed for Congress to pass Joint Resolution 2 to make bicameral budget deliberations public and transparent.
Protesters over the weekend highlighted the need for accountability, demanding the return of alleged ill-gotten wealth tied to flood control anomalies and budget insertions.
