The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has issued a reminder to government workers, warning them against engaging in partisan political activities on social media as the May 12 midterm elections approach.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 03, Series of 2025, the CSC expanded the definition of prohibited political activities to include actions on social media, such as liking, sharing, or following a candidate’s account.
These activities are considered partisan and are banned during the campaign period, even if conducted outside office hours or premises.
The CSC emphasized that violations could lead to penalties, including suspension or dismissal from service, depending on the severity of the offense.
The prohibition applies to all government employees, including those in various government agencies, uniformed personnel, and barangay officials.
