The Court of Appeals has issued a freeze order on the assets of Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Edvic Yap, and Silverwolves Construction Corporation in connection with alleged anomalies in La Union flood control projects. The freeze covers bank accounts, properties, insurance policies, securities, and air assets, including airplanes and a helicopter, preventing the sale or transfer of suspected ill-gotten funds. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed that over P16 billion flowed into Silverwolves’ transactions from 2022 to 2025, mostly linked to DPWH flood-control projects. The move follows complaints filed by Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon and findings from the Ombudsman and the Anti-Money Laundering Council implicating the Yaps in potential kickbacks and malversation. Both lawmakers have denied involvement, but the freeze ensures that funds intended for public projects remain safeguarded for recovery and justice.
