House Speaker Bojie Dy assured farmers from Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, and Isabela that the House of Representatives’ doors are always open to them.
The group, led by former Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano, visited Dy’s office to discuss proposals for better crop insurance and livelihood support.
Dy emphasized his deep respect for farmers, highlighting their vital role in sustaining the province of Isabela and the nation.
The farmers supported Dy’s call to raise the rice import tariff from 15 to 35 percent to protect local producers.
Dy also urged a review of the Rice Tariffication Law to ensure it benefits Filipino farmers and prioritizes local agricultural development programs.
