The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has reminded all candidates from the May 2025 elections, both winners and losers, to submit their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) by June 11, with no extensions allowed.
Comelec Spokesperson Atty. John Rex Laudiangco emphasized that the 30-day deadline, which began on May 13, is mandated by law and cannot be changed, even by the poll body.
Candidates must submit their SOCEs in person at the same location where they filed their Certificate of Candidacy, as the Comelec will not accept submissions via email or registered mail.
Failure to file the SOCE, especially for winners, will prevent them from assuming office, even after taking their oath of office, unless proof of submission is provided.
Non-compliance also carries penalties, including fines for first-time offenders and permanent disqualification for second offenses. Past cases show that Certificates of Candidacy were canceled for repeated failures to submit SOCEs.
