COAST GUARD BOOSTS RESORT AND BEACH MONITORING FOR HOLIDAYS

The Philippine Coast Guard has stepped up inspections and safety monitoring at beaches and resorts ahead of the Christmas season.

Rear Adm. Genito Basilio said personnel will be deployed to ensure compliance with safety standards, including lifeguards, first aid, and rescue equipment.

Extra patrols, medical units, and search and rescue teams will be on standby to respond to emergencies.

Tourists are encouraged to report resorts that fail to meet safety requirements to the nearest Coast Guard station or local government unit.

The preparations coincide with renewed calls for the “Sandy Bill,” which seeks stricter safety measures at tourist destinations following a child’s death from a jellyfish sting.
